Unbelievable ... Well I will try to ask him more about his life in there. He seems to still have hope. He mentioned the future a few times and that he had the chance to be eligible for parole even if it's in a very long time.
Thanks for your advices and support :)

Thank goodness he realizes that. It'll be a chunk of time,  35 years easy. He needs to stay away from getting major cases.

Yes I was very surprised that he was talking about the future. It's already very rare there (and we don't have life sentences, the max is 30 years and 22 without possibility of parole) so I wouldn't have expected him thinking about after the prison. But that's very good I guess. He has a motivation to stay out of trouble. And I hope I could have a good impact on him (even in a small way).

I was thinking about you this morning. There was a conversation on the TIFA facebook page where a lady was talking about her Uncle making Parole after serving 38 years on a Life Sentence. TIFA is Texas Inmate Family Association.

My mother-in-law is part of a church group that does inmate outreach in Dallas, and they have 5 ex-inmates attending at the sessions. A couple of them were paroled after 25 - 30 years.

I didn't know where to post this and I didn't wanted to create another thread so ...
I read on the internet that visit at Telford unit are no contact visits for all the inmate (not just the one on death row), is it possible? It seems unbelievable to me ...

It would be down to the Warden. There is nothing to stop a Warden deciding that all visits have to be non-contact if the inmates cannot behave themselves. It would normally only be done as a security measure though, or as part of other measures if the unit was seriously under-staffed.

Those who are not a close relative would not be permitted to have a contact visit unless specifically requested and approved by the Warden.

Perhaps the people who wrote what you read Elvire were not related to the inmate and did not understand that particular rule.

Yes I was talking for non related :) Since I am not related to my PP I was only looking for rules for non related person. So if one day I make all the journey from Europe to Texas, it will be to see him through a glass ? Oo

it will depend on what his level is at that time. Because not all non relations have to visit behind glass.

Depends more on his behaviour.

Inmates who are in trusty camps generally get contact visits with everyone, regardless of whether they are close relatives or not.

Inmates who are in general population usually only have contact visits with close relatives. Non-relatives can request a contact visit, and those travelling from overseas or more than 300 miles from the unit can request a special visit over 2 days. But both are at the Warden's discretion.

a few months ago My Cowboy stopped writing and phone calls and emails out of the blue, it went on for almost a month, which was really out of character for him as he used to email me a few times everyday and if I didn't respond he'd go in to panic mode and send me an email asking if he'd upset me or said something dumb, he also used to call me 3 times a week, sometimes more and I'd always get at least 1 letter ever 2 weeks, at first I thought he was maybe out of money? then as time passed I started to think maybe he just decided not to write anymore? Anyway, I kept sending him emails (corrlinks) letters and cards to let him know that I was still here if he nedded me! :) Then out of the blue I got a letter from him......dated almost a month earlier! He'd been sent to the hole and was unable to use the computer for emails and had lost his phone privelages, he'd wrote me a letter telling me that he wouldn't be able to contact me and the reason why the day he was sent there, he also included his incident report, but I didn't recieve it for almost a month! the next day he called me as soon as he was released! he explained that he was going crazy with worry that I'd forget him or replace him or just think he'd ditched me, he didn't recieve any of the letters or cards I sent him until 2 days before he got out! So hang on in there and keep sending him things, I'm sure you'll hear from him as soon as it's possible, he's probably just as worried as you are! My Cowboy is in a detention centre as he hasn't been sentenced yet.......but since that whole experience he hasn't gotten in trouble since, he says he can't go all that time without being in contact with me again, he still worries that I will replace or forget him, which will never happen of course! :)
It's hard to wait for something
that might not happen......
But it's even harder to give up
when it's everything you want!
