Title: E-messaging for TDCJ inmates
Post by: sunrayswench on April 29, 2014, 11:43:20 am
In the majority of TDCJ units, inmates are able to receive printed copies of emails sent by friends and family, using the Jpay email system. Details of the JPay system are here: http://jpay.com/agencies/texas_DOC.html (http://jpay.com/agencies/texas_DOC.html)

Inmates cannot use kiosks or computers to reply to the emails that are printed out in the mailrooms and delivered to the inmates at mail call. They must reply using traditional mail.

Friends and family who wish to use JPay will need to purchase "stamps" in order to send emails to TDCJ inmates. You will need a debit or credit card to purchase the stamps. Each page of text you wish to send will cost you one stamp. Each attachment or photograph you wish to send with the email will cost you an additional stamp.
